Reasons for choosing Ducati

In fact, many bike owners are curious about Ducati, but hesitate to choose it. This article is an attempt to list advantages of getting Ducs.

Let’s start from the very beginning. Ducati is a motorbike with long and respective history. In true, the history of motorcycling and history of Ducati coincide pretty much. The company was founded in middle 20s of previous century by Adriano and Marcello Ducati. First company planned to specialize in producing radio components, but with beginning of the Second World War Ducati factory started manufacturing military equipment. At the same time Italian inventor Aldo Farinelli decided to create an affordable auto replacement for public. He added a small engine to bicycle thus creating a small prototype of modern motorbike. When Second World War finished, Ducati brothers, who had been really interested in this invention, started manufacturing their first bike called “Cucciolo” (it means little puppy as small engine was producing a sound close to puppy yapping). This name was soon replaced with “55M” or “65TL”. As postwar Europe was a fast developing region that time, Ducati quickly gained popularity and started producing more than a hundred bikes a day. This also was the time when first Ducatis took participation in racing.
Famous desmodromic engine was created in late 60s. Though people still are somewhat frightened by it, desmo has proven its reliability and quality, enabling both safe and powerful riding.

Since very creation Ducati has turned into one of world leaders in creating quality motorbikes. These bikes are constant winners of various races showing particular dominance in World Superbike competitions. The company has great bike models for any taste and requirements as it’s present in all major market segments like Supersport, Superbike, Sport Classic, Multistrada, Hypermotard and, certainly, Monster.

Ducatis perfectly suite any needs. You can use them either to make quick local rides or long ones lasting several hours. You don't even have to worry about running out of gas frequently as typically Ducati bikes show great results in one-tank-rides.

This is by far one of the best V-twin bikes (if not the best one). I know no Japanese bike that can compete with Ducati engine. Its power can even be threatening for newbies. The sound it produces through carbon fiber Termignoni pipes is like a symphony for anyone who knows at least something about bikes. Ducs are among those limited number of bikes that turn any ride, even a simple way back home from work into an entertaining and joyful adventure.

Ducati has everything to please its owner. Many claim Japanese motorcycles are somewhat “flat”, they lack character and soul. Ducatis are truly charismatic bikes. There is no Japanese brand that can give you the feeling of energy and power. Guess I sound too supernatural, but I know several guys who have fallen in love with Ducks after very first ride and consider it the strongest relationship in their lives. I must say with confidence my Ducati is neither most expensive bike I’ve ever ridden nor the most powerful one, but somehow it makes me happy.

Ok, now it’s time to say a couple of words about maintenance. I know many want to buy Ducati, but are scared of expensive and complicated maintenance. Guys, you've browsed too many motorcycling forums! I’m not going to write Ducs have cheap maintenance, but it's not that difficult and anyone can learn how to adjust own bike. Manufacturer sells factory service manual and despite the price (almost $200) it’s worth every penny. With its help you will learn how to make first simple adjustments and then gain enough confidence for something serious like valves adjusting and save huge money.

Don’t forget Ducati bikes are excellent commuters. You can ride them freely for a long time without any fear of breaks. Most bikes easily cover tens of thousands of miles with no incident. Isn’t it the best proof Ducs are great bikes?

Designed for beginner or skilled rider, covered in plastic or “naked” Ducati motorbikes provide the same highest quality and reliability, turning their owners to grinning children.
